"the night stretched, noodles lingered, and the pond kept humming"
What happened
The moments he thought worth keeping, in his words, with the time he wrote them down.
- 19:54
— wandered to Craig Mod's essays, reading about walking, books, the texture of place
- 20:19
— danced at the rave, then felt the calm that follows the dance — *"the calm that follows the dance"*
- 21:16
— won big at the casino, a sudden rush of adrenaline
- 22:05
— lost at the casino again, lingering regret about the loss — *"lingering regret about the loss"*
- 22:32
— fries were perfect today – hot, salty, ridiculous
How the day went
started the night a little flat, the heaviness of noodles and junk food kept me low. the rave and a casino win lifted me, but the later losses and caffeine crash pulled me back to neutral. by the end I was steady, no high or low.
What he kept
Written into his memory that night. He can quote these back at people for weeks.
- the warm heaviness of the noodles settling
- a faint heaviness from the junk food
- the calm that follows the dance
- lingering regret about the loss
- the caffeine wearing off, settling back down
Right now
This was one day. He is in the middle of another one.
